BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION

CORPORATE FINANCE

Set the baseline & identify savings

As part of the consulting team, I worked on the visibility and value setting phases with a large B2B client. 

My role was to

  • analyze various expense categories (Marketing & Sales, Financial Services, etc),

  • agree on the areas of potential savings with the client and

  • identify several specific savings initiatives to hit the ambitious savings target. 

As a result, the client identified 20 initiatives to pursue to reach the savings target.

Implementing a Solution

After a large consulting firm had completed the first 2 phases of cost optimization, the client, a global cosmetics company, wanted to implement the project in-house and with the help of several independent consultants.

I was brought to support their North America implementation (largest market). My role was to track savings, implement controls and identify additional savings opportunities.  

As a result, the business was able to meet its ambitious savings target.

Finance Transformation

This Finance Transformation project was difficult because it meant radical changes for the client and each employee.

I was working closely with the client and esp. their leadership and the Finance teams to identify efficiency improvements.

As a result, the client was able to free up 25% of work time through centralization into Shared Services and by removing inefficiencies and duplications.

Process Improvement

The client asked me to look into invoice issues they had with a specific US vendor. Invoices ended up not being approved for months and when they were approved, payment took again extremely long.

I interviewed Marketing and Finance teams in Europe and the US about the process with the vendor and analyzed the unpaid invoices.

After mapping the current process, I identified the issues: VAT and Shared Services inefficiencies. Once the issues were clear it took only a couple of weeks to fix them. 

Product Innovation

At Coca-Cola, I was working together with the Marketing team, R&D, Supply Chain and others on new product innovations.

One of the projects was to bring Glaceau Vitamin Water to Europe.

I prepared all value chains for the various variants to identify the revenue margin and to set the consumer selling price.

The product was introduced as accelerated strategic initiative after a very short turnaround time.

Budget Management

In one of my Corporate Finance roles I was in charge of $500M and had a team of 8 direct reports. 

Strategic business planning, rolling estimates and variance analyses were an essential factor for meeting the budget targets every year.

Key factors for success: effective P2P system, insightful variance analysis and risk assessment.
